Community Events

We host a variety of community events from one-off events, to yearly events and events which take place on a more regular basis.

Events are advertised on our social media accounts, local notice boards, to our current groups, and through our Blether service.   Some events like our Santa Parade are bookable in advance, while others can be accessed on a drop-in basis.

Yearly Events

Burns Event

Our annual Burns event is held each year in January with traditional Scottish music filling the hall, followed by traditional Scottish haggis, with time for a blether with friends old and new for our over 50s.

Fulshie Fun Run

Our annual Fulshie Fun Run takes place in the spring.  Runners take part in either our 5K event or our 2.5K where entrants can choose to run or walk the route. The route trails the Fulshie Woodland with each runner receiving a Fulshie Fun Run medal for taking part.

In 2023, the Ian Currie Memorial Shield was awarded for the first time in memory of our late trustee Ian, who was instrumental in creating the Fulshie Fun Run.  The Memorial Shield is displayed within our Hub and will be presented each year in 'Special Recognition for Outstanding Effort'.

Summer of Fun

Our Summer of Fun programme provides the opportunity for families to spend the day on one of our day trips – Edinburgh Castle and the Glasgow Science Centre are always top choices for our children, as well as one-off events brought to the village. This is provided free of charge for all families that attend.

Santa Parade

Our annual village Santa Parade first began in 2012, and Santa has made sure to visit our wee village every year since (he even adapted his visit during Covid).  More recently Santa has been joined by our trusty snowman and the troublesome Grinch.

Santa journeys through the village streets on his sleigh, spreading festive cheer after dark: whilst during the day, small stallholders provide the opportunity to purchase Christmas treats, with warm food available, and entertainment from Whitburn Youth Band.
